John Symcheck, 81, of Niles, passed away peacefully at 12:44 am on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Hospice House with his son Mark and daughter in law Kathy by his side.
John was born on July 7, 1935 in Vestaburg, PA, the son of the late Dmytro and Margaret (Olex) Symcheck and was a longtime resident of Niles.
He was a 1953 graduate of Centerville High School moving to Niles in 1967 and was employed at General Motors Lordstown Plant for 28 years.
On October 3, 1953, John was united in marriage to his lifelong love Nancy (Booze) Symcheck and shared 59 years together before her passing on May 3, 2012. John and Nancy knew each other their entire life, growing up living across the street from each other.
At the time of his death, John made his home with his daughter Amanda where she was his full-time caregiver since June 2016. He was of Christian faith and was brought closer to the Lord with his visits from Pastor Don, Chaplin with Hospice of the Valley.
John was a member of the former Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge 627. He loved spending time outdoors hunting and fishing.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories son Daniel (Sharlene) Symcheck of Fredericktown, PA, daughter Amanda (Mark) Smith of Niles, son Mark (Kathryn) Symcheck of Niles, ; a brother Anthony (Lolly) Symcheck of Niles; 9 grandchildren, Johnny (Rachelle) Symcheck, Daniel Symcheck, Alisha Symcheck, Jennifer Symcheck, Christopher (Kristina) Tominey, Melissa (Brian) Terry, Michael Tominey, Tia (Trevor) Robinson, Mark (Gina) Symcheck II; 12 great-grandchildren, Austin, Aiden, Noah, Zoe, Alex, Chase, Jacob, Seanna, Aidden, Callie, Riley, and Arianna; and 1 great-great grandson Cash.
In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by a grandson, Peter M. Tominey IV and great-grandson, Blake C. Tominey.

Calling hours will be on Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Wm Nicholas Funeral Home and Cremation Services LLC, 614 Warren Ave. Niles, OH 44446. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Donald P. Barnes, Chaplin of Hospice of the Valley.
