Audrey Jane Mrofchak of Girard entered the gates of heaven on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 3:55 a.m. in Omni Manor. She was 86.
Audrey was born on April 15, 1932 in Girard. The daughter of the late Edward and Justina Yancar Augustine.
She was a 1953 graduate and homecoming queen of Girard High School. Following high school, Audrey earned her associate degree from Youngstown State University. Mrs. Mrofchak was a barber and beautician in Girard like her father, “Champ” Augustine.
Audrey was a passionate religious and spiritual woman in the Catholic faith. Even with big family responsibilities, she found time to author a book in 1998 titled, “The Sword of the Spirit”. She was a loving and caring mother who enjoyed cooking, especially big Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter feasts. One of her favorite dishes was Italian wedding soup, which she loved to share with all.
Her husband of 67 years, Paul Edward Mrofchak, passed away on December 11, 2018. They met one evening at Avon Ballroom.
Mrs. Mrofchak is survived by 6 children, John Mrofchak of Bridgeport, NY, Paul Mrofchak of Girard, OH, Christopher Mrofchak of Weathersfield, and James Mrofchak of Girard, Marianne Mozingo of Melbourne, FL and Lorain Pipino of Canfield, OH. As well as numerous grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Audrey was preceded in death by a daughter, Regina M. Nickells-Powers.
A memorial mass will take place on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Rose Catholic Church 48 Main St. Girard, OH 44420.
