Charles C Chaney

Charles C. Chaney, 66, of Warren Ohio, passed away on November 3, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown.  The son of Clarence C. and Mary Ann (Ronyak) Chaney born on April 1, 1952 Warren, Ohio. A graduate of Lakeview High School in Cortland, Ohio.

Charles was raised with his family in Bazetta, Ohio and moved to Garfield Heights Ohio as an adult before moving back to Warren in recent years.  He worked at McDonald Steel, LTV Steel, Industrial 1st Corporation, and Myers Industries throughout his career.  He took great pride in being a Cub Scout leader and later Scout Master of pack 361 in Garfield Hts.  He briefly pursued a political career running for president of council in Garfield Heights and was the president of the Garfield Heights Friends of the Library for many years.  He was a passionate scale model builder and enjoyed puzzles, sudoku, and painting.  He spent countless hours supporting his children and grandchildren in their athletic endeavors.  He loved the simple things in life and held a special place in his heart for fishing, camping, and canoeing.

Charles will be remembered as a beloved son, brother, father and a grandfather.  His memory will be carried on by his three children; sons, Robert Chaney, and Charles F. Chaney; daughter, Cheree (Chaney) Powell; brothers, James J.L. Chaney Sr., Leroy R. Chaney, Dion S. Chaney, Ronald L. Chaney; sister, Wendy R. Wortman and Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents, Clarence C. and Mary Ann ( Ronyak) Chaney; and sister, Gladys L. Clark.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at McFarland-Barbee Family Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass service will be held at St. John Paul II Church, 420 North Street NW, Warren, Ohio on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 10:00 am with Father Christopher Henyk officiating. Services of final committal will follow at All Souls Cemetery in Cortland, Ohio.  Gathering for family and friends will be after at Candle Light Knoll, 2619 Bazetta Rd NE, Warren, OH 44481.
