Eiko Hughes

Champion, Ohio - Eiko "Baba" Mizuno Hughes, 86, passed Saturday, December 30, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her daughters. She was born on November 27, 1931 in Sapporo, Japan, the daughter of the late Iwao and Yaso Mizuno.

Eiko met her husband Ervin while working for the US Government in Sapporo, Japan. They married September, 19, 1956 and moved to the United States where she and Ervin lead a true military life moving every three years until he retired in 1971. Throughout this journey they had three daughters and resided in Warren, Ohio.

Baba's hobbies included quilting, sewing, cooking, knitting and spending time with her family. She was the "Leader of the Pack" in many ways and will be missed by all that knew her.

Memories of Eiko will be carried on by daughters: Barbara Crawford (Jeff Goldner) of Champion, Patricia (Danny) Webber of Howland and Debbie (Frank) Sneyd of Matthews, NC; grandchildren: Heather (Adam) Miller, Michael (Rachel) Crawford, Brian Webber, Victoria Sneyd, Paul Sneyd, and great-grandchildren Anna and Lukas Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Tsuruko Nakai, husband Ervin Hughes and son-in-law Michael Crawford.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 11am - 12pm at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, Warren. Services will be held at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, Warren, Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 12pm with Pastor Mitch Meadors officiating. Interment will follow at Meadow Brook Memorial Park.
