George A. Petak

George A. Petak,Sr., age 81 of Maplewood NE, Warren died Friday December 31, 2004 at his residence. He was born April 12, 1923 in Youngstown, the son of Andrew and Mary (Fabian) Petak.

He was a member of St. Mary's Church and a 1942 graduate of Niles McKinley High School. He was a member of K of C # 620, VFW #3332 in Newton Falls, a Trumbull Co. chapter of American Red Cross volunteer for over 10 years, and a 10 gallon blood donor.
He worked as a tool & die maker at Van Huffel Tube for 38 years, before retiring in 1983.
Mr. Petak was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy.

He is survived by his wife Regina (Williams) Petak, whom he married August 31, 1946, one daughter Mrs. Brad (Teri) Scofield, of Medina, Ohio, sons Frank A. (Barb) Petak Sr. of Bazetta, George A. (Nancy) Petak, Jr. of Sun Prairie WI. and Daniel J. (Debbie) Petak of Louisville, KY.
Thirteen grandchildren:
Frank's children: Frank, Jr (Melanie), Melanie Shuster, Maribeth Petrilli, and Bradley (Shannon).
George, Jr's children: Brian (Heidi), Todd (Shannon), and Meigan Rivera (Armando).
Dan's children: Danielle Gilley (Joe), Michelle, and Georgeanne.
Teri's children: Kate, Dan, and Andrew Scofield.
Ten great-grandchildren:
Ethan, Bethany, MaKaylee, Josiah, Jonathan, Diego, Jordan, Tyler, Morgan, and Anthony.

Mr. Petak was preceded in death by one son, David and three sisters Ann Zgurich, Mary Carano, Marge Marsh, and 3 brothers Michael, Andrew and John.

Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church Monday, January 3, 2005 at 10:00 AM where friends and family may gather in the Church Social Hall following the service. The Rev. Fr. Bernard Schmalzried will officiate.
