Gerard "Gary" Dohar

On Tuesday, April 2, 2019, Gary Dohar, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away at the age of 67 at Lake West hospital in Willoughby, OH, with members of his family by his side.

Gary was born June 8, 1951, in Warren, OH to Albert and Elizabeth (Caler) Dohar.  He was the 3rd born in a family of seven and was the oldest boy.

Gary was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and attended Kent State University.  He served in the Air Force as an MP and was stationed in Okinawa.  One of Gary’s true life-long passions was music.  He loved playing the guitar and ukulele and singing, among others, Beatle’s music for family and friends.  Gary loved the outdoors where he found relaxation in long walks, gardening and spending time around a roaring camp fire with his family.  Gary retired from the Burton Public Library as Maintenance Manager in January, 2018.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Albert and mother, Elizabeth.  He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Lucy and his sons, Christian and John Paul along with daughter, Timothea Letson (Patrick Nelligan).  Gary also leaves behind siblings, Catherine of Ravenna, Maryam (Cal Paulsen) of New Albany, William of San Francisco, CA, Christopher (Michelle) of Warren, Robert of Norridgewock, ME and Betsy (Doug Kehres) of Ravenna.  Grandchildren, Sadie Dohar and Shannon Dohar, Kieran Nelligan and Finley Nelligan, will also miss their grandfather.
