Gertrude Frances O'Dell

Gertrude Frances O’Dell of Brookfield passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. in O’Brien Healthcare Center. She was 86.

Gertrude was born in Washington County, PA on August 1, 1933, the daughter of the late Walter J. and Stephanie Karlinovich Tarko.

Following her graduation from high school, Gertrude enrolled in Sharon Regional School of Nursing, where she obtained her license as a Registered Nurse.

Mrs. O’Dell was employed at Sharon Regional Hospital and at an area hospital in Parker, Arizona for many years.

She was a member of Notre Dame Church in Hermitage and more recent was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Sharon.

Gertrude enjoyed crocheting and cross stich, she looked forward to spontaneous trips with her friends, and relived those memories with the stories she would tell her family. Most importantly she was a loving mother.

She is survived by a son, Matthew (Amanda) O’Dell of Brookfield; a sister, Ilene Green; 3 grandchildren, Tylor, Joseph, and AJ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Floyd O’Dell, who passed in 1998; a brother, Ed Tarko; 4 sisters, Dorothy Sobash, Kay Pon, Helen Sanders, and Tweety Carsanovich.
