Glenn Hammercheck

Glenn Hammercheck, 79, of Warren, passed away peacefully at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland on January 6, 2019.  He was the son of John and Helen (Check) Hammercheck was born on August 1, 1939 in West Pike Run TWP, Washington County, PA. His family moved to Warren and he graduated from Warren G. Harding in 1958 and continued his education attending Youngstown State University.

Glenn married Catherine A. Pakulniewicz on December 2, 1961 and raised their family in the Warren area. He was employed by Republic Steel and other steel mills in the Warren and Youngstown area for many years. He then was employed by the city of Warren as a Sanitation Engineer where he retired from several years ago. He played football, and ran track for Warren G. Harding and was awarded the Good Sportsmanship Award from Massillon High School for his outstanding sportsmanship in football. He sang in the Acapella Choir and was an active alumni and band parent of the Warren G. Harding Marching Band. He enjoyed his time playing catch with the kids, playing horse shoes, bicycling around Warren, family picnics, swimming at Packard Park as well as at West Branch, attending single A baseball games at Packard Park, going to movies, and dining at the many area restaurants. Glenn also was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Indians

Glenn will always be remembered as a son, brother, father and a grandfather whose memories of him will be carried on by his wife Catherine A. (Pakulniewicz) Hammercheck; his four children; sons, Glenn (Pninna) Hammercheck of Warren, Paul Hammercheck of Warren, and Robert Hammercheck of Cortland; daughter, Stephanie Lockovich of Girard; and granddaughter, Kelsey Hammercheck.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen (Check) Hammercheck; and sister, Ruthie Ann Fox.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with the service to follow at McFarland-Barbee Family Funeral Home. The committal service will follow at Pineview Memorial Park in Warren.
