Gloria J Martorana

Gloria J. (Mazzi) Martorana, 81, of Warren, passed away on Tuesday September 4, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Mercy Health in Youngstown.  She was born August 29, 1937 in Warren, the daughter of the late Amedeo and Rose Angelini Mazzi. Gloria was a graduate of St. Mary’s in 1955 in Warren and worked as a secretary at Howland Builders. She was a life member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Warren.

Gloria was devoted to her family and her late husband Joseph Martorana, whom she married February 4, 1956. She was kind, caring, and loving, and she was a committed and supportive mother and grandmother who was proud of her children and grandchildren. She was known for her great cooking and loved it when the family gathered for meals. She enjoyed her home and loved to lounge by her pool with Keno, the dog, by her side. Gloria and her family and friends would travel to the Mountaineer Casino to gamble and attend some of the venues.

Surviving are her three children: Dianna Swayngim of Cortland, Joseph M. (Robin) Martorana, of Bristolville; John K. Martorana, of Auburn; granddaughter Alyssa (David) Strickland, and grandson Gabriel E. Martorana.

Her husband, Joseph Martorana, preceded her in death on February 2, 2013.  Also preceding her in death were her parents and brothers, Rudolph Mazzi, Eugene Mazzi, Ramon Mazzi, and Edward “Butch” Mazzi.

Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. Sunday September 9, 2018 at the funeral home and then the Mass Service at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 10, 2018. Interment will follow at All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.
