James R. Focht, 87, of Niles passed away at home surrounded by his family on August 15, 2020, after a short illness.
He was born on January 8, 1933, in Sunbury, PA. He was the son of the late Clayton & Mary Gottshall Focht. He graduated from Sunbury High School, and shortly thereafter joined the United States Air Force and proudly served our country in the Korean War. Following his service to our country, James attended American Television Electronics School in Ohio.
He worked 14 years at Republic Steel, and then he was an electrician at General Motors, retiring after 30 years.
James enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and making wonderful memories with family. His other past times included hunting, fishing, watching sports, and going to casinos.
On April 19, 1958 he married Frances Taylor Focht of Keisterville, PA. They shared 62 years of marriage and made many wonderful memories together.
Together they shared two children, James R. Focht Jr. of Texas, and Brenda (Robert) Vickers, of Niles.
He will be dearly missed by his two grandchildren, Stacey (Brandon) Durig, and Robert (Ashlee) Vickers, and his two great grandchildren Brandon II, and Brielle Durig.
He is also survived by his two brothers David (Kaye) Focht of Hershey, PA and Clark (Gloria) Focht of York, PA.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Clayton, Marlin, William, Wesley, and Robert, and his sister Jane Moyer.
