James H. Miller

Austintown

James H. Miller of Austintown passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at 11:57 a.m. in his residence. He was 84.

Mr. Miller was born on January 1, 1935 in Cumberland, MD, the son of the late George H. and Lily Mae Shepard Miller.

Following high school, James enlisted in the United States Air Force proudly serving his country during the Korean War from July 15, 1952 until May 27, 1954 earning a National Defense Service Metal during his service.

On September 11, 1954, James married Gwendolyn Scalf and together they loved their family until her passing on March 29, 1998.

James was a conductor for Conrail for many years. He was also employed as a truck driving instructor for TDDS.

Mr. Miller was of Baptist faith. He enjoyed watching horse races and spending quality time with his family. He was also a proud American and loved his country.

James is survived by his 3 daughters, Tommie Miller of Fort Mill, SC, Jake (Dennis) Aiello of Niles and Chrissie Miller of Lordstown; a son, Michael (Pam) Hunt of Ft. Mill, SC; a brother Ernie Miller of Kingsport, TN; 5 grandchildren, Becky (Joe) Loveland, Melanie Sawtelle, Megan (John) Eduardo, Nikki (Brian) Slaven, and Sarah (Kaleb) Miller; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Miller was proceeded in death by 9 sisters, Ada, Alice, Genivieve, Lola, Mabel, Pearl, Evelyn, Juanita and Gertrude; 3 brothers, Ferman, Lee and Thomas; and his great grandson Dominik Eduardo.

Calling hours will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 in the Wm Nicholas Funeral Home & Cremation Services LLC 614 Warren Ave. Niles, OH 44446.

A funeral service will be on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Mikel Lagaras pastor of Victory Christian Center.

Internment will take placed in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Tennessee.
