Joseph Gutierrez

Joseph Gutierrez of Boardman, formerly of Struthers, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 8:25 a.m. at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was 80.

Joseph was born in Youngstown on April 2, 1937, the son of the late Alex and Rose Fiordelise Gutierrez.

He was a graduate of Youngstown City School Systems.

Mr. Gutierrez was employed for 27 years as a diemaker for Kessler Products.

He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. Joseph enjoyed golfing, early morning walks at the Southern Park Mall, and going to the local casino. Joseph always placed his wife’s cooking on a high pedestal, that restaurants and others could not compete with. He himself was a wonderful cook, specifically spaghetti, chili, and big fluffy pancakes. Most importantly Mr. Gutierrez was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished family events, especially the memories he made with his grandchildren.

Joseph is survived by his wife Elaine Toth Gutierrez, whom he married October 24, 1956; a son Joseph (Carol) Gutierrez of Las Vegas, NV; 2 daughters, Colleen (Michael) Moritz of Boardman and Sheila (Michael) Moorhead of Jackson Twp., OH; a sister, Carmel Gutierrez of Hermitage, PA; 5 brothers, Frank Gutierrez of Youngstown, Alex Gutierrez of Boardman, Anthony (Maureen) Gutierrez of Canfield, John (Gloria) Gutierrez of Boardman, and Richard Gutierrez; 7 grandchildren, Michael (Gia Ramsey) Moritz, Ashley (Nick) Duritza, Michael (Cara) Moorhead, Ryan (Kelly) Moorhead, Alicia Moorhead, Shane (Sarah) Roberts, Dana (Noah) Reynolds; 5 great grandchildren, Brady, Stella, Hayden, Jayce Moorhead, and Eliana Duritza.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Raymond, Louis, and Samuel Gutierrez.

Calling hours will be on Monday, January 29, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in St. Charles Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2018 in St. Charles Catholic Church with Fr. Philip Rogers.

Inurnment will take place in St. John’s Cemetery
