Kenneth E. Smith Sr.

Kenneth E. Smith Sr. of Warren passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Cleveland Clinic - Hillcrest Hospital. He was 76.

Kenneth was born in Homestead, PA, on August 11, 1947, the son of the late Eugene R. and Victoria Karenda Smith.

He was part of the first graduating class from JFK in Warren in 1965 and furthered his education at Kent State University. He left his studies early in order to serve his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He continued to serve through the National Guard.

On July 24, 1980, Kenneth married the love of his life, Judith Ann Helmick Smith. They had a second wedding on December 8, 2020, held in the Catholic Church.

He retired as a wire drawer at Packard Electric on April 1, 2004, and also drove for the Amish Community.

Mr. Smith was devout to his Catholic faith and spent many hours volunteering at the church as well as the Second Harvest Food Bank and the St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Store. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors either hunting or gardening. He also enjoyed reading and was a wonderful cook. Throughout his years he was a loving owner to many dogs and most recently several cats. Kenneth was also a softball coach and football coach for many years. He was very passionate about politics and always enjoyed many lively discussions at holiday gatherings. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.

Kenneth is survived by wife, Judith Ann Smith; his children, daughters, Melissa (James) Carsone, and Kendra (Stephen) Gasior, and son Kenneth (Apryle) Smith Jr.; 12 grandchildren, Brianna, James Joseph Kenneth, Isabelle, Victoria, Cassandra, Destinee, Ashley, Samantha, Montana, Teddrick, Harley, and Hayley; as well as 4 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister and an infant brother.

Calling hours will be on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. in the St. James Church - Warren - St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish at 2532 Burton St SE, Warren, OH 44484.

A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the church.

The interment will take place in Pineview Memorial Park.
