Martha Lee Gougler

Martha Lee Gougler of Warren passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 11:04 a.m. in Cortland Healthcare Center. She was 88.

Martha was born on November 3, 1930 in Warren, the daughter of the late George and Margery Durst Neumeister.

She was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. Following high school, Martha furthered her education at Capitol University obtaining a Bachelor of Education degree.

Mrs. Gougler was employed for the Warren City School System as a kindergarten schoolteacher at Elm Road Elementary and McGuffey Elementary School.

Martha was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Warren and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed traveling to various areas locally and around the world including Germany, Hawaii and Canada. During her private time, she found relaxation sewing, quilting, keeping her mind active with crossword puzzles, and spending time outdoors tending to her garden. Martha looked forward to going out with the “Lunch Bunch” as they affectionally referred to themselves, a group of 6 teachers that went out each month for lunch. Most importantly she cherished the time and memories she made with her loving family.

Her husband, Richard T. Gougler whom she married December 21, 1952, passed away on October 11, 2018;

She is survived by her children; sons, Randall (Holly) Gougler of Newton Falls; Rick (Noriko) Gougler of Hayward, CA; Ronald (Peggi) Gougler of Warren; daughter, Rebecca (James) Kerr of Belton, SC; and her 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Martha was preceded in death by a son Rodger Gougler; a brother, George Neumeister; a sister, Nora Bohyer.

A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2019 in the First Presbyterian Church of Warren 256 Mahoning Ave. Warren, OH 44483.
