Opal Keefover

Opal Keefover of Masury passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 12:10 p.m. in Addison Healthcare. She was 82.

Opal was born in Clarksburg, WV on May 27, 1937, the daughter of the late Pearly B. and Ellen Price Starkey.

She attended school in West Virginia. Mrs. Keefover came from a humble beginning. She worked many jobs until she began disabled due to a debilitating accident and mental disability. She lived in many places during her long life. From West Virginia to Florida where she held jobs as a waitress in various restaurants to picking fruit on farms. She had a sweet kind heart. She rarely had a mean word to say about anything.  She enjoyed being outside whenever she could. She had a passion for shopping at “The Kroger’s” as she called it or JC Penny’s. Her sense of fashion was impeccable. Only the best clothes would due.

She had a special bond with her nephew Michael Starkey. Michael met her for the first time 20 years ago and he immediately took her under his care. He moved her to Ohio and cared for her with love and compassion until her death. Opal enjoyed dinners and parties at her nephew Michael’s home. She would request chicken Alfredo and a CRISP salad for all her special meals.

Her later years she developed a wonderful Friendship with her friend Ruby.  They did everything together from sitting quietly watching TV, carrying on conversations, to smoking outside bundled up like eskimos. Opal was blessed to have the ones near her that loved her the most during those last few hours of life.

She is survived by a nephew Michael (Marlene Proctor) Starkey of Warren; 2 brothers, Delbert and Stanley Starkey;

In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by a brother Winford Starkey; a sister Delores.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Wm Nicholas Funeral Home & Cremation Services 614 Warren Ave. Niles, OH 44446. Calling hours will be one hour prior to the service.
