Roger Earl Hornsby

Roger Earl Hornsby of Niles, returned to the loving arms of the Lord on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. in his residence. He was 74.

Roger was born on December 29, 1943 in Lexington, KY, the son of the late Vogel and Mearl Roar Hornsby.

He attended Alliance School Systems. Mr. Hornsby retired in 2006 after 18 years of employment in maintenance at ABC Management, where he oversaw Bellair and Central Park Apartments.

Mr. Hornsby was a member of Church of God Praise Cathedral in Niles. Roger enjoyed spending time by the water with a fishing pole in his hand. He had a talent for wood working and working on cars. Roger enjoyed telling stories of all the things that he experienced throughout his life.

He is survived by his wife, Roberta Morrison Hornsby, whom he married March 20, 1981; 2 daughters, Gena Hornsby-Craven of Alliance, OH, Jessica (Randy) Wilke of Niles; 3 sons, Travis Hornsby of Alliance, OH, Jerry Welch of Holland, OH, and Rob Welch of Dallas, TX; a sister, Lynnette Sheller of Smithville, OH; 9 grandchildren, Katelyn, Sam, Chad serving in the United States Air Force, Danica, Tori, Anthony, Joshua Serving in the United States Navy, Trent, and Ally. 3 great grandchildren, Elena and Logan, and Xena. He will also be missed by his Dachshund, Bella.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents.

Calling hours will be on Monday, February 19, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Wm Nicholas Funeral Home & Cremation Services 614 Warren Ave. Niles, OH 44446.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 in the funeral home with Rev. Jim Salyers.

Internment will take place in Highland Memorial Park.
