Shirley C. Peterson

Shirley C. Peterson of Canfield went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 27, 2018 at 9:35 p.m. in the ICU of St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was 81.

Shirley was born on November 19, 1936 in Hickory, PA to the late Leslie Allen and Barbara Runtas Cole.

She was a 1954 graduate of Hickory High School. Mrs. Peterson was a homemaker who loved spending time with her family. Shirley was a manager for over 18 years at Ames Department Store in Warren. She enjoyed reading and embroidery crafts. Shirley was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She was a member of Greenford Christian Church.

Mrs. Peterson is survived by her six children, Denise Stevens of Girard, Michael Yanovich of Warren, Stephen (Mary Kay) Yanovich of Niles, Kathryn (Jimmy) Law of Wauseon, OH, Susan (Joseph) DeLucia of New Middletown and Hope (Rick) Smith of Austintown. In addition she is survived by her brother, Henry (Judy) Cole of Florida; a sister, Margaret Kotyk of Pennsylvania; 15 grandchildren, Shane (Jessica) Stevens, Laura (Alan) Williamson, Victoria Yanovich, Stephen Yanovich, Thomas Yanovich, Jacob Law, Lucas (Jodi) Law, Nicholas DeLucia, Sarah DeLucia, Richard Smith, Tyler Smith, Alexander Smith, Spencer Smith, Samantha Smith, Sophia Smith; 6 great grandchildren, Mackenzie Stevens, Micah Stevens, Logan Law, Henna Law, Ian Law, and Jackson Law.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband’s George R. Yanovich, Dallas M. Baxter, and Dale Peterson.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday September 8, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Howland 8957 East Market St. Warren, OH 44484.
