Alec A. (Bucky) Caruso

May 13, 1949 — September 16, 2020

Champion

Alec A. “Al” or “Bucky” Caruso, of Champion. A very loving father, son, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and dear friend to all, passed away Wednesday morning, September 16, 2020 after fighting a long hard battle with cancer. He was 71 years old.

He was born May 13, 1949 to parents Anthony and Berniece (Gillis) Caruso in Dubois, PA and resided in Champion, OH for the past 35 years.

He attended Lackawanna Senior High School and received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, majoring in Computer Technology, from Kent State University in 1994. He retired from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation with a career in computer networking.

Al was an avid lifelong New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, fishing, and letting his ponytail flap around in the wind while riding his motorcycle. He also loved to play his lottery tickets daily, feeding the deer and fox that played in his backyard and caring for his cat, Stewy. What he treasured most was spending time with his friends and family. Al, or to others known as “Bucky” or “Crazy Al” had quite the personality. At first glance, he could come across as stubborn or ornery. But, when you got to know the real Al, he was a man who liked to joke around and had such a loving, caring, compassionate and all-around infectious personality. He truly had a kind and generous soul and the memories of him will never be forgotten.

Al is survived by his son Alec Caruso II of Champion; His grandson Antonio Caruso of Champion; four granddaughters, Sabrina Caruso, Alexa (Jordan Mack) Stoops, Adrianna Stoops, and Savannah Stoops, all of Champion; great grandchildren, Elliana Mack and Lincoln Mack of Champion;  brother, Anthony (late Joyce) Caruso of Cortland; 3 sisters, Marlene (Donald) Bracci, Barbara (John) Burkholder, Deborah (Allan) Gibson, all of New York; nephews, Anthony (Melissa) Caruso of Cortland and Curtis (Ani) Minniefield of New York; nieces, Suzanne (Chris) Copley of Aurora, Paulette (Joey Suto) Czuba of New York, Laurie (Garrett) Hatt of New York, Darlene (Daniel) Gizzi of New York, Kimberly (Christopher) Overby of New York, Laura Clemons of New York, and Rachel Tufillaro of New York: and many other great nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Anthony and Berniece (Gillis) Caruso; and daughter, Alicia Caruso, who he so dearly missed.
