Carolyn R. McCorkle

November 13, 1935 — May 11, 2019

North Jackson

Carolyn R. McCorkle of North Jackson met her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, face to face on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 6:25 a.m. from her home.  She lived 83 years on this earth before He called her home.

Carolyn was born in Youngstown on November 13, 1935, the daughter of the late Howard H. and Dorothy Gebhardt Harig.

She was a 1953 graduate of East High School.

Mrs. McCorkle was a handicap bus driver for 22 years and touched the lives of many children.  Earlier in life she assisted her husband in the family construction company.  Carolyn gave her life to Christ as a child and lived out her faith well, loving and caring for many family members over the years.  She played the organ and piano and had a collection of piano music boxes given to her over her lifetime.  She loved traveling, the beach, listening to the sounds of the ocean, butterflies, and "Patches" her cat.  Most importantly she cherished the good times and memories she made with her family and friends.

Her husband of 31 years, Ralph C. McCorkle, whom she married January 26, 1957, passed away in 1988.

She raised and is survived by 5 children, Brenda (Mark) Spencer, Glenn McCorkle, with whom Carolyn made her home, Ruth (Martin) Ellis, Chuck McCorkle, and Mary (Scott) Farber; a daughter in law, Judy McCorkle; a brother, Donald (Nancy) Harig; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 4 nephews and their families.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carolyn was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons.
