Douglas Carnahan

May 23, 1967 — February 22, 2019

Douglas Carnahan, 51, passed away Friday, February 22, 2019 at his home in Girard. He was born May 23, 1967 in Warren, and was the son of Roger and Roselyn Boyd Carnahan.

Douglas was a graduate of Liberty High School Class of 1985. He was active in band as a drummer, was on the wrestling team and participated in various 4H activities. Doug enlisted in the US Marine Corps Reserve Unit at Brookpark, Ohio and graduated from boot camp in August 1987 in Paris Island, SC.  He served with his unit during the first Gulf War and also in Norway on training assignments.  Doug was promoted to Lance Corporal. Doug later worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation, where he was there 17 years.  He was very supportive of animal rights and a supporter of the ASPCA, Lost and Found Dogs of Youngstown, and the Trumbull County Pet Forum group. He would be seen often at Austintown and Howland dog parks with his Bull Plot Hound, Wilma.  Besides loving animals, he loved listening to music and enjoyed family gatherings and outings.

Memories of Douglas will be carried on by his parents; Roger and Roselyn Boyd Carnahan, and brothers; Alan (Lisa) Carnahan of Boardman, and James (April) Carnahan of Mansfield; sister; Cheryl (Ron) Grace of Cincinnati; along with his nieces and his nephews; Zachary, Allyson, Emily, Alex, Elizabeth, and Thaddeus Carnahan, Matthew Grace, and his Plot Hound Wilma.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Earl and Ruth Carnahan and William and Rose Boyd; and three uncles; Art Carnahan, William Boyd and Robert Boyd.

The family suggests contributions be made in the form of donations to the ASPCA or the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Christ Episcopal Church, 2627 Atlantic St., NE, Warren, where Doug was an acolyte, reader and active in the church youth group. His arrangements have been entrusted to McFarland-Barbee Family Funeral Home, 271 N. Park Ave, Warren, OH 44481, (330) 393-9621.
