Evelyn Gladys Porter

Evelyn Gladys Porter of Niles passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at 1:58 p.m. in her residence. She was 92.

Evelyn was born in the family home in Niles on November 17, 1927, the daughter of the late Frank and Bessie Mae Hedge Marino.

She was a 1946 graduate of Niles McKinley High School. Earlier in life, Evelyn was employed at Isaly’s Dairy Store where she served ice cream. Following her marriage, Mrs. Porter was a loving wife, mother and homemaker.

Her and her husband operated a lawn maintenance business for many years together. She cherished her four-legged fur babies and always had a dog by her side throughout her life. Evelyn and her husband loved to go to the casino together and even after his passing, Evelyn and her friends would take the same trips together.

Her husband, Robert R. Porter, whom she married April 14, 1948, passed away on December 24, 2002.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Kelly Porter of Niles and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by a son Robert R. Porter Jr.; 5 brothers, Leonard, Eugene, Guy, Dominic and Joseph Marino; 2 sisters, Nancy Campbell and Grace Bogna.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, December 12, 2019 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Wm Nicholas Funeral Home 614 Warren Ave. Niles, OH 44446.

A funeral service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2019 in the funeral home.

Internment will take place in Niles City Cemetery.
