Everett J. Knowles of Niles passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 11:00 p.m. in Continuing Healthcare of Niles. He was 88.

Everett was born in Corry, PA on January 14, 1931, the son of the late Floyd and Ann Knowles.

He attended schools in West Virginia. Everett proudly served our country in the United States Army in the Korean War. He earned many awards and citations throughout his 18-year military career.

Mr. Knowles retired in 1986 from Copperweld Steel after 31 years of employment.

Everett attended Liberty Bible Church. Mr. Knowles loved being outside, weather it was planting his flower garden or spending time hunting and fishing. He found relaxation in working on crossword puzzles and watching old western movies and television shows. Earlier in life he enjoyed coaching his son’s little league baseball games and being a Cub Scout leader.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Jackie (Brian) McVicker of Vienna, OH, Joyce (David) Curry of Masury, OH, and Theresa Purbaugh of Lexington, KY; 2 sons, Donald (Kathy) Knowles of Niles and Victor W. Knowles of Niles; 5 step-children; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren.

Everett was preceded in death by his first wife, Margarite Cirolla and second wife, Verna Knowles; his father, Floyd Knowles; Mother and stepfather, Ann and Oscar Johnston; a daughter Normajean Fenwick; 2 grandchildren, David Wilson and Della Purbaugh; 3 brothers.
