Hajo A. Kolshorn

Hajo A. Kolshorn, 93, of Warren, entered into his final resting place on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 4:13 p.m. after a prolonged battle with complications caused by illness.

Mr. Kolshorn was born in Hannover Germany in 1927, the son of the late Otto Kolshorn, Ph.D. (born Muller) and Emmi Kolshorn.

He furthered his education at McGill University in Montreal, Canada where he studied electrical engineering and prior to that he attended the Leibnitz University Hannover. Later in life, Hajo studied business administration at Ohio University.

He enjoyed traveling and photographing areas all around the United States. However, his favorite place to be was Marietta, Ohio. It was there Hajo and his previous wife, Zena opened and operated a nursing home together until 1990’s. He served as a prominent nursing home administrator while continuing to follow his passion for trains, computers, and electronics. Mr. Kolshorn had a special place in his heart for the fine arts. Admiring the brush strokes of a beautifully painted masterpiece to the crisp sound of each instrument in a classical music selection.

On August 15, 1994, he married his love, Monna Utt Kolshorn and became a dad to his stepson Michael. Together, Hajo and Monna shared many joyous years. She was by his side and cared for him “till death do us part”.

Hajo is survived by his wife, Monna Kolshorn; 6 children, children, Andreas, Elizabeth (Mark), Peter (Alisa), Zizi, Johannes (Catrina), and Michael (Heather) Treadway of Ohio; 8 grandchildren; 4 step children; 13 step grandchildren; 22 step great grandchildren; and his former wife, Zena Khemiri of Taos, NM. His children will always remember him for his keen intellect and ability to discuss any topic from his faith in God to electrical circuits, his love of learning and books, his ingenuity, his kind heart, and his love of life.

In addition to his parents, Hajo was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Hans Kolshorn.
