John W. Nolen, Sr

John W. Nolen, Sr. of Warren passed away on Friday, December 18, 2020 at 12:01 p.m. in Mercy Health - St. Joseph Warren Hospital from complications due to Covid-19. He was 72 years old.

Mr. Nolen was born on March 4, 1948, the son of the late Richard and Marilyn Nolen.

John retired after 32 years from General Motors. After his retirement, he became a bus driver for Mathews Local School District for 10 years and was the W.G. Harding Girls Bowling Coach for 5 years.

John was a dedicated husband and father. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, golfing, and fishing. He dedicated many years coaching youth sports including Warren Little League Baseball and many youth bowling teams.

Memories of John will live on in the hearts of the family he loved and all of those that loved him. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn Shingle Nolen; his children, John (Susan), Jennifer (Reginald), James (Molly O’Malley), Jason (Rachel Bowser), and Brianna; his grandchildren, Alison and Jamal; his great grandsons, Keegan and Ryan; and his brothers, Ron, Rich, and Ed.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his grandson Zachary Nolen.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Joseph’s Hospital for their excellent care and compassion.

A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date.
