June E. Johnson of Arlington, Texas, formerly of Warren, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2020 at 12:40 PM in Arlington, Texas. She was 93.
June was born on February 16, 1927 in Poland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Charles William and Margaret Krum Yaeger.
June was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Warren where she was the secretary, organist, and a former choir member. She then joined Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ in North Lima, where she continued her passion of playing the organ. Mrs. Johnson was also a member of the Study Circle Group in Warren for many years, which met on a regular basis to discuss public issues that had an effect on the community at large. In 2012, June made the decision to move to Arlington, Texas to be closer to her youngest son where she continued to enjoy her life and playing the organ. She loved giving and helping others, rarely accepting help for herself. She volunteered for many years at Red Cross centers, cancer wards at hospitals, and many other community and church events.
Her husband, Grant W. Johnson, whom she married December 15, 1951, passed away on February 10, 1999.
She is survived by 2 sons, Terry (Anne) B. Johnson of Arlington, TX, and Ernest (Sherry) L. Johnson of Alexandria, VA; and grandchildren Sarah (Colin), Hilary, Mary E., Grant, and a great granddaughter, Aubrey Grace.
In addition to her parents and husband, June was preceded in death by brothers, Russell C. Yaeger, and Evan R. Yaeger.
In lieu of flowers, June has requested that memorial contributions be made in her honor to the donor’s favorite charity or to the Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ Rummage Sale.
