Kevin Nicholas Smith

Kevin Nicholas Smith of Niles passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 1:32 p.m. in Hospice House. He was 32.

Kevin was born on March 28, 1988 in Youngstown, the son of Michael and Sheri Peteritis Smith.

He graduated in 2006 from Niles McKinley High School. He furthered his education at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Las Angeles followed by the Pittsburgh Art Institute.

Kevin was a talented artist and expressed himself through his work whether through his drawings or his poetry. He was also a musician and was able to use his skills as a poet to write his own music. Kevin was a loving son, brother, nephew, cousin, and grandson. He ended his own life after struggling with addiction for many years. There are many who could not see beyond his behavior caused by his addiction but there were many more individuals who knew the real Kevin and could look past this. The family asks that you try to remember his good and forgive him for the bad. He is finally at peace and that is all that we have ever wished for him. Although Kevin is gone, his spirit will live on in his art, poetry, and music.

He is survived by his mother, Sheri Smith of Niles; his father, Michael Smith, and his companion Kelly Jo Porter of Niles; his sister, Tyler Smith of Niles; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and a cousin.
