Lamont B. Boyer Sr.

January 8, 1930 ~ January 29, 2021 (age 91)


Lamont B. Boyer Sr. of Warren passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 6:37 a.m. in Mercy Health - St. Joseph Warren Hospital. He was 91.

Mr. Boyer was born on January 8, 1930 in Youngstown, the son of the late James and Grace Mansfield Boyer.

Lamont was a 1948 graduate of Newton Falls High School. Following high school, he attended Orange Coast Junior College. He was employed at Packard Electric as an Engineer.

Mr. Boyer was of Catholic Faith and a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Warren.

He was extremely involved in his church and served many positions throughout the years including Lay Minister and Lecturer. He belonged to Holy Name, Knights of Columbus and was a Paramedic of Palmyra. He was the first paramedic in Portage County. Lamont was the LPGA Marshall for many years and later became chairperson. His favorite past time was golf.

He is survived by his 5 children, Marie Lynn Millik, Lamont Byron (Vivien) Boyer Jr., Joan Leah Jastatt, Robert Edward (Debbie) Boyer, and Richard John (Ellie) Boyer; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Lamont was preceded in death by his wife Mary L. McLay Boyer, whom he married on November 11, 1948, she passed away on November 11, 2011; a son-in-law John Jastatt, 3 sisters Olive Brungard, Marjorie Reynolds, and Jane L. Brown; 2 brothers James Boyer and Joseph P. Boyer.
