Richard B. McCurdy

Richard B. McCurdy of Youngstown, formerly of Andover where he loved to be and considered his true home, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at 7:06 p.m. at Mercy Health - St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. He was 51 years old.

Richard was born on March 31, 1970, in Bay Village, Ohio.

He was a graduate of Pymatuning Valley High School. Following graduation, he furthered his education to become a certified electrician and used his skill at several local steel plants including Coronado Steel Co. and United Stainless.

Mr. McCurdy attended Shiloh Full Gospel Church in Girard. In his spare time, you could find Richard at his favorite fishing spot. He loved being outdoors and enjoying nature.

He is survived by his wife, Melissa Harvey McCurdy who he married on March 17, 2002; his mother, Beverly and her husband Rev. John Hartzell; a daughter, Jesica Groff of Cincinnati; 2 sons, Richard “Cole” McCurdy and Caden McCurdy, both of Youngstown; a sister, Barbara Hartzell of New Port Richey, FL; brothers Donald (Kathleen) McCurdy of Sarasota, FL, Tim (Jennifer) Hartzell of Bradenton, FL, and Rev. Wade (Jackie) Hartzell Sr. of Youngstown; and a granddaughter, Charlotte.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Donald McCurdy, and stepmother, Donna McCurdy, and a niece, Cynthia Lydic.

A memorial service will take place in Shiloh Full Gospel Church 1310 Shannon Rd., Girard, OH 44420 on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Wade Hartzell Sr. Calling hours will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
