Rose Marie Smith of Niles passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. in her residences surrounded by her loving family. She was 79.

Rose was born in Lauda, Germany on August 8, 1940, the daughter of the late Felix and Maria Schlapp Kraus.

She was a high school graduate in Germany. Rose met her husband, Fred Smith while he served in the United States Army and stationed in Germany. When Fred was sent back to the states, he brought his beautiful new bride with him.

Mrs. Smith was employed at the Niles Times where she placed the weekly advertisement inserts into the paper. She also worked the polls for every primary and general election. Together her and Fred also owned and operated a real estate investment company.

Rose was a member of St. Stephen Church. She enjoyed collecting dolls, playing bingo and scratch off tickets. Her enjoyment for scratch off tickets led her to be on Cash Explosion 4 times. Rose also looked forward submitting their classic car and attending car shows with her husband throughout the area. She was a dog lover, especially her Teacup Yorkies Monica and Monique.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Fred Smith Jr, whom she married in 1963; a son, Fred (Latricia) Smith III of Austintown; a daughter, Sabrina Kelley of Denver, CO; 2 sisters, Ingrid and Emtrout Weidner both of Germany; a brother, Karl-Heintz Kraus of Germany; 6 grandchildren, Erin Mark, Matthew, Hanna, Kenny, and Jeremy (Sara).

She was preceded in death by her parents.
