Virginia M. Garey of Warren passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 2:20 p.m. in Gillette Nursing Home. She was 94 years old.
Virginia was born in Lordstown, OH on June 14, 1926, the daughter of the late Abram F. and Mary Edith Park Hoffman.
She was a 1944 graduate of Lordstown High School. Virginia furthered her education at Ohio University earning her bachelor’s degree in education. She was a 2nd grade teacher at Girard Schools.
Mrs. Garey was an active member of Central Christian Church in Warren where she was an Elder Emeritus and a Deacon. She was involved in the Ladies’ League, Martha Circle, Church Women United, and made their pecan rolls. She also helped with church dinners. In her free time, she enjoyed playing cards and working in her flower garden. She loved cats and collected stuffed bears. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Her husband Neil E. Garey, whom she married June 10, 1950, passed away on November 10, 1984.
She is survived by her 2 children, Roger Garey of Warren, and Diane (Donald) Drummond of Warren; her grandchildren, Daniel, Darla (Nick), Dennis, Kris (John), Shannon (Kevin), Nicole (Cliff), and Gary (Lyn); her great-grandchildren, Emma, Jeff, Johnna, Aleeah, Dalton, Monica, Lilly, Mariah, Alexis, Meegan, Damion, Deacon, and Dylan; and a great-great-grandchild, Mara Jade.
In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by her sister, O. Catherine Dix, her brother, John W. Hoffman, a grandson, Douglas, a daughter-in-law, Diane, and her special friend of many years, Hobart Mozingo.
The family would like to thank Crossroads Hospice and the staff at Gillette Nursing Home for their kind and compassionate care.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 3, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at North Jackson Cemetery at 1103 N. Salem Rd., North Jackson, OH 44451.
