Robert E. Reed of Niles passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 4:22 a.m. in his residence. He was 78.
Robert was born on May 31, 1941 in Warren, the son of the late William and Mary Elizabeth Forney Reed.
He was a 1959 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. Following high school, Robert began his career as a quality control inspector for General Motors Lordstown Complex. He retired in 2003 after 37 years of employment.
Mr. Reed was a member of Central Baptist Church in Niles. Robert loved the outdoors; he was an avid golfer that played on various leagues and courses throughout the valley. Mr. Reed also enjoyed fishing, boating, and keeping fit. He was passionate about his Ohio sports teams, from the Cleveland Browns and Indians to the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was also a member of the Niles McKinley Masonic Lodge #794 of Free and Accepted Masons.
Robert is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kathleen Gregory Reed of Niles; 2 daughters, Tami Degraw of Warren and Leslie (Chris) Hansen of Niles; a son Rob Reed of Hubbard; a sister Nancy Viola of Pennsylvania; 5 grandchildren, Cindy, Nicole, Lisa, Abbey, and River; 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a brother Bill Reed; 2 sisters Carolyn and Katherine.
